Biography of Late Madam Lucy Alaezi Azubuike Okoroafor (Nee Nwosu)
ADA UGO AMUVI
Late Madam Lucy Alaezi Azubuike Okoroafor (Nee Nwosu Mbakaogu) alias Azu Ozee-Akwa Akwuru was the sixth and only daughter out of the twelve siblings from her parents.
Born in Ahani in Achi in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State to Amuvi Uda parents, who were devoted merchants. She was very promising, energetic and boisterous in nature. Since she grew up in midst of boys, she learnt to be fearless but respectful and honest.
Married to an illustrious son from Amuvi Uda and six children though three surviving children till date. She was a loving and caring woman and succeeded in bringing light and joy to the family. She boldly opposed and defiantly rejected the notion that female born should not be trained in school, hence she single handedly trained her two daughters from primary six and beyond. Many of her friends followed suit and equally imitated her on this.
Besides, late Madam Lucy hated and abhorred injustice hence she was always among the Amuvi elders in making peace both in her immediate family and village at large. Her history will never be complete if she is not mentioned as the pioneer – arbiter of peace movement in the whole of Amuvi village. On her death, Amuvi citizens sang glorious songs and praises to immortalize her name and her achievements.
May her gentle soul continue to rest in peace with Lord Almighty
