HONOURABLE JOHNSON UZOIGWE UDENYI OF NDI ONYIKE, AMUVI VILLAGE, AROCHUKWU LGA.
Honourable J.U. Udenyi was elected into the Federal House of Representatives in 1959 under the platform of NCNC (National Council of Nigeria and the Camerouns).
His constituency was Inyong Constituency within the Eastern Region.
- For Arochukwu in particular, he attracted the building of the tarred road running from Umuahia Uzuakoli through Ohafia to Arochukwu.
- He also attracted the Eastern Nigeria Development Co-operation (ENDC) with the palm oil plantation at Amuvi (though being claimed to be in Awka Ibom presently since after the war), then the oil mill at Amuvi.
He also attracted the prison, the sub treasury and government presence that positioned Arochukwu as urban area. He along with other patriots like Mazi Alex Onyeador, introduced the master plan of Amuvi, that led to the creation of roads and streets. Arochukwu has been classed and designated as the fourth Urban City in Abia State because of Amuvi Village.
It is something of pride today that every family that has a car conveniently drives into his house as against other villages whereby they park their cars on the roads and walk a distance to their houses. He also gave scholarships to individuals across his constituency.
Finally, he was amongst the people who laid the initial foundation for the building of the Amuvi Civic Centre.
