Sir (Engr.) Alexander O. EZUMAH (JP) was born to the family of late Mazi Nwafor Ezumah and late Mrs. Grace Ezumah (nee Okoroji) both from Arochukwu on the 16th day of October, 1955, in Kano and hails from Amuvi Village.
His primary education was undertaken at the Methodist Mission Primary School Ogui Enugu, 1962 – 1967, Government College Afikpo and thereafter, proceeded to the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu, 1975 — 1979, from where he obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Civil Engineering in upper Credit. His quest for further education took him to the University of Science and Technology, also in Enugu, 1988 — 1990, obtaining a Post Graduate Diploma also in Civil Engineering and the Ben Guerin University, Beer Sheva, Israel, from where he did a further post graduate program in Water/Waste Water Treatment and Reuse in 1996. He also did a post graduate course on Railway design, development, and operation at the University of Malaysia Kualalunpor.
An outstanding Public Servant, Engr. Ezumah was at different times promoted Chief Engineer (Water), Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Abuja; Assistant Director (Water), and Deputy Director, Transport and moved to Head, Transportation Engineering and Planning Division of Transportation Secretariat, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA). He was finally elevated to Director-Transportation and Rail Development.
A professional engineer, he is a member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers; Nigeria Institution of Civil Engineers, member, Society of Engineering Technologists of Nigeria and a registered member of the Council of Regulation of Engineers (COREN). He attended an International Leadership Course Titled the “7 Habits of Highly Effective People World Over” by Franklin Cover INC USA In 2007, and more than 25 local and international courses world over.
In social activities, he belongs to the Abuja Country Club; Abuja Committee of Friends and the Shalom Club International (Friends of the Nation of Israel). A community development man per excellence, he has served and continues to serve the Aro kingdom in many capacities. For instance, he is a past President, Nzuko Aro, Abuja Branch; member, Aro Okeigbo Social Club of Nigeria; past President Old Bende Senior Staff Association, Abuja and past President General, Amuvi Welfare Union.
His administration as President General of Amuvi Welfare Union, attracted electric transformers to the village; had a model health centre built; renovated and equipped an examination hall at the Comprehensive Secondary School and a second primary school in Amuvi.
A pious man, he is a knight of St. Christopher of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, as well as being a Jerusalem Pilgrim (JP). and Fellow, Charted Institute of Administration. Sir Alex Ezumah is also a recipient of the prestigious Ugwu- Aro Award. He is married to Lady Chioma Edith Ezumah and the union is blessed with five children.
