PROFILE OF MAZI GODWIN OKEREKE AMARAH
Mazi Godwin Okereke Amarah, was born on 8th November, 1927 in Amuda Isuochi in Umunneochi Local Gov’t Area and hails from Amuvi Village Arochukwu both from Abia State.
After his early education in 1935 and 1936 he left the shores of Nigeria to Cameroon in 1937. He attended St. Don Bosco Catholic School Mbonge and later the Prestigious Kumba government school in 1946 and 1947.
Upon his return to Nigeria on 24/12/1948 he therefore join his Uncle late Mazi G.N. Ezumah to Northen Nigeria on 24/5/1949.
Mazi Godwin Okereke Amarah. Veered into business with UAC LTD at Karadua in Katsina province and UAC LTD at Dangora in Zaria provice as a sales rep in 1949 and 1952.
Between 1952 and 1955 he served under his Uncle, Late Mazi G.N. Ezumah a factor of Johnholt LTD and transporter as an assistant produce buyer in Malunfashi 1955 and 1960 he become a license produce buyer in northern Nigeria and transporter, 1961 and 1964 he became a loading/weighing clerk with British cotton growing association (BCGA)
On 24 May , 1964, Mazi Godwin Okereke Amarah returned back home in Arochukwu due to northern crises. In 1975 and 1983, he work as a production/ sales supervisor with NECI (Nig) Ltd and also engaged in Large Scale Farming in Arochukwu.
He is a community development Oriented man. An active member Amuvi Welfare Union (AWU) home branch. In Amuvi he has held or holds the following positions:
- Financial Secretary from 1972 and 1974 under the chairmanship of Late Mazi Ezekiel Orji
- Financial Secretary under the Chairmanship of Late Mazi Charls Ezumah
- Financial Secretary under the chairmanship of Mazi George Orji
- Financial Secretary under chairmanship of Late Mazi Edward S. Okoro
- And Financial Secretary two tenures under the Chairmanship of Mazi S. J. Ezumah all in Amuvi Welfare Union Home Branch
- Secretary to Ekpe Society Amuvi from 1981 and 2003
- He is a life Secretary of Ikemba Age Grade Amuvi from 1971 till date
- Member Amuvi Elders Forum
- Former Treasure parents Teachers Association (PTA) Amuvi Comprehensive Secondary School Arochukwu
- Former Member Amuvi Comprehensive Secondary School Arochukwu Building Committee and
- A Key member Amuvi boundary adjustment
His hobbies include reading, listening to News and swimming, a Presbyterian by faith and happily married and are bless with children.
